DIY: Refreshing Brown Sugar Mask
Updated: Mar 20, 2019

With summer coming to an end and the climate beginning to make a shift it is important to make sure your pores are breathing. I've been guilty of skipping the exfoliating step on my skincare routine just because after a long day at work, adding an extra step feels like a huge task! Often, I find certain exfoliants are too harsh for my sensitive skin. One day I ran out of my exfoliant and I was in desperate need of a good scrub. I wandered into my kitchen and kinda threw together something that turned out to be MAGIC!
Here's a quick, easy and affordable DIY exfoliant with everyday household items that you have already in your pantry.
Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1. Brown Sugar
2. Aloe Vera Gel
3. Peppermint Oil (tea tree is another good one)
4. Rose Hip Oil ( can be substituted with other oil, my skin loves rose hip)
5. Coconut Oil
Directions:
Pour 1/4 cup of brown sugar into a bowl
Add 1/2 Teaspoon of Aloe Vera Gel
Add 1/2 teaspoon of Coconut oil
Add 2-3 drops of Peppermint Oil. (Warning too much can cause eye irritation or may be too strong for comfort)
Add 1/2 teaspoon of Rosehip oil.
Mix contents together until you have a desirable paste (you may need to add more rose hip oil or more brown sugar depending on the texture.) You don't want the mixture too watery to where the brown sugar dissolves too quickly or too dry that it isn't fluid enough massage into skin! You want the brown sugar to be mosit enough but not saturated.
Once the mixture is perfect, massage into damped skin in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes and rinse throughly with warm water to gently open pores and allow the exfoliate to penetrate.
Pat face dry with a clean wash cloth and enjoy the cooling effect afterwards!
